Eurydice

February 10-18, 2017

Eurydice is clearly a passion project for director Elizabeth Allers. She and the design team, led by set designer Christopher Lupia and costumer Christina Huffaker have stretched the limits of the CNY Playhouse stage to create a series of beautiful images, especially in the show’s last few minutes. Eurydice is an engaging and challenging production.”

Len Fonte, syracuse.com

“Against the feminist expectations of Macdonald’s heroines in Good Night Desdemona, Otoski-Keim’s Eurydice seems unprepossessing and guileless. Allers also guides convincing performances from Thompson’s Hades and Searle’s father. Best of all, she expertly controls the tone of mystery and wonder, and never punctures Ruhl’s sometimes quirky humor.”

Just in time for Valentine’s Day we have the first Special Production of our 2017 season, Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl.  In Eurydice, Sarah Ruhl reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love. With contemporary characters, ingenious plot twists, and breathtaking visual effects, the play is a fresh look at a timeless love story.
